Why is HUMILITY important?

Once you overcome insecurity and know your rightful place in Christ, pride comes into action! He makes a grand entry into your Life.

"When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." Prov 11:2 (NIV)

So, this pride will take you down to square one! Hence, you must practice humility. Humility is humbling yourself and not thinking so great of who you are. This is confusing because you are co-heirs of Jesus and you have this royal authority, and it makes complete sense to be proud of what you are! Be reminded that this is where you need wisdom from the Bible. Take Jesus for example, he is an image of humility. He carried it with such grace that he invented something called Royal Humility.

Main reason that causes pride:

When you compare yourselves to someone else and you somehow feel like you are closer to God than they are. Well, God created everyone in his image and to each he gave a unique purpose. So stop comparing!

"If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves." Gal 6:3 (NIV)

How to remind myself to be humble?

Whatever you are, the spiritual gifts, the purpose, the inheritance and authority, it is all because he died for you! And all you did was accepted him to be your saviour. So now, what are you proud of again!? You have been given freedom to LOVE, SERVE with HUMILITY!

"You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love." Gal 5:13 (NIV)

Always remember that when you acquire this wisdom, you will no longer be proud of what/who you are.

"Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life." Prov 22:4 (NIV)

EQUATION:

HUMILITY = Fear of the Lord = Beginning of the Wisdom

Are you proud of the way you look?

Beauty fades! One second it's there and the next it's gone!

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Prov 31:30 (NIV)

Summary: How to be HUMBLE?

Respect others' uniqueness and their beliefs.

Respect their feelings about Life.

Remember that Jesus died for everyone.

Stop comparing!

Hey! Bring up that heartfelt smile on your face!

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,"

Phil 2:3 (NIV)
