2. Desires of Flesh

We all as Christians know that sex before marriage is a Sin. Because God designed sex for marriage.

Do you know that looking at a person with an intention to have sex or with lust (as I can put it) is adultery?

Let's see the meaning of adultery

Adultery: Voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not his or her spouse.

You might say that you are not even married and how could you possibly have committed adultery. Let me prove that you have done something more than adultery.

Firstly, you are not married and you don't even know who your spouse is. God has created each one of us to be a soulmate to the right kind of person. So looking at some random guy or girl across the room with lust inclines that you are not only thinking about someone else's wife or husband but are also cheating your soulmate. Just looking with lust. So now test yourself and see how many times you have committed adultery?

"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Matthew 5:28 (NIV)

You need not touch a person, just looking at them with a sexual desire will make you a sinner. We often forget the fact that our thoughts are filled with passion. You might say, "God! I didn't even touch anyone." The moment you had a thought of having sex with a person, you are bound to sin.

Sex and anything that invokes sex (Romance) leads you to sin. You cannot think of having sex with anyone except your life partner. That implies, as long as you are not married, you have no right to indulge in any activity that invokes sex. You might be in a committed relationship and that doesn't mean you are married to that person. Save it for your marriage.

"But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband." 1 Corinthians 7:2 (NIV)

What happens when you are married to your life partner? You share one single life. That means you both are an individual.

When you have sex with a person, you become one in flesh. That's the main reason behind sex. You not only become one mentally but also physically.

Do you know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in a body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh". 1 Corinthians 6:16

If you had sex before marriage with someone whom you don't even know, you have already become one in flesh with them and how do you intend to get married to someone else and become one flesh with them?

Your thoughts control you. Whatever is in your heart reflects in your thoughts and you do exactly as you think. You cannot encourage thoughts that lead to sex. You might be in love with someone but never amalgamate love with lust. Love is pure. Lust is the opposite.

How can you control your thoughts?

Avoid watching porn either on social media or any videos games.

Avoid watching Rated-R movies.

Avoid listening to songs which induce sex.

One-night-stand is not for you. HOW CAN YOU BE SO UNCONTROLLABLE?

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not on your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV)

Your body is a gift of God. It's not yours. It's your duty to keep it pure and clean.

Self-control is a super-power that can help you abstain from desires of the flesh. Practice it and it will help you stay away from evil. I know it's not easy but, God is always ready to help you. Jesus commands you to stay from evil not for his sake but for your own good.

We are in a world, where sex before marriage is not even considered wrong. It's assumed to be a means of having fun. But, as God's children, you have to understand why Jesus strictly commands you to stay away from evil. Understand that it's for your own good and that you may live in peace. You will not be guilty before your God and/or your life partner. Stay away from desires of the flesh.

"Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NIV)

Life is given to us and the body is given to live Life. These both are temporary. We should be aiming at something permanent and that is eternal Life. Choices you make in your life lead you to either an eternal life of freedom or an eternal life of bondage. So, it's your call now. What do you want? Do you want eternal bondage just for a temporary happiness in a temporary Life?
